Technical Specifications

Detailed technical parameters and product description for professional evaluation.

1. Parasitic life cycle

Transmission: cat heartworm is transmitted through the bite of a mosquito infected with filarial larvae. When a mosquito infected with filarial larvae bites a cat, the filarial larvae enter the cat's skin and then travel through the bloodstream to the heart and lungs to grow into adult worms.   Adult growth: the adult worms settle in the cat's heart and lungs and continue to grow, releasing tiny larvae called microfilariae, which enter the cat's blood circulation and wait for the next mosquito bite to transmit them.

2. Symptoms

Mild infection: mildly infected cats may have no obvious symptoms or may show mild coughing, shortness of breath, and occasional vomiting.   Severe infection: Severely infected cats may show symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, weight loss, weakness, fainting, etc., which may even lead to death.   Complications: Serious complications of feline heartworm disease include heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary embolism, etc., which may pose a serious threat to the cat's life.

3. Testing and diagnosis

Blood test: ITGen's rapid feline heartworm test can detect the presence of feline heartworm DNA or antibodies in a cat's blood through blood, which is fast, accurate and convenient.   X-ray examination: X-ray examination can help determine the cat's heart and lung conditions, including the presence of dilated pulmonary arteries and lung inflammation.

4. Treatment and prevention

Antiparasitic drugs: For cats diagnosed with feline heartworm infection, the veterinarian will recommend antiparasitic drugs to kill adult worms and microfilariae.   Preventive medication: Preventive anti-parasitic medication can help prevent the occurrence of feline heartworm disease, and regular dosing can protect cats from infection.   Preventive controls: Avoid letting cats out for long periods in areas where mosquitoes are active, and regularly cleaning the environment to reduce mosquito breeding sites can also help reduce the risk of infection.   Feline Heartworm Disease is a serious disease, but with regular prevention, regular check-ups and prompt treatment, the infections can be effectively managed and prevented to protect your cat's health.   The creation of Itgen not only reinforces the company’s commitment to quality and innovation but also serves as a testament to its unwavering dedication to improving animal health and welfare.Together, we can make a difference.
